EARLY LANGUAGE, LITERACY AND NUMERACY (K TO 3)
Session 1: Principles of Child Development
This session aims to examine principles of child development and their application to educational programs and explain how domains of child development are intertwined and in turn affect how children grow, develop, and learn.
In session participants were actively participated in imparting their experiences during their childhood years. They realized and learned the different principles and ways how the child grew, developed, and learned.
Session 2: 7K para sa Batang
This session aims to explain the 7k for child’s development and how
children’s grow, develop and learn.
In this session the participants learned the essential needs that can be captured in the 7K ng Bata through the given activities. The 7K consists of 7 Filipino words that all begin with the letter K that present in a concise way the essential needs of all children from birth through the early childhood years (up to If these essential needs are met, every child’s growth, learning and optimum development will be achieved .
Session 3: Developing Thinking Skills
In this session participants knew the different activities that can help support children’s continuing growth towards literacy and learned the basic components of literacy learning. They explored developmentally-appropriate activities that support literacy for younger children like letter puzzles, upper and lower case game, color domino, color matching game, word ladder bingo and many more.
Session 4: Emerging Literacy Games and Activities
In this session participants learned how to use appropriate games as a method of literacy instruction through a video presentation presented by the speaker. The participants also engaged in games activities which they can apply in their teaching process like literacy stations.

In this session participants were identified means to provide language experiences to support children’s emerging literacy skills and abilities. They actively shared their ideas and knowledge based on their experienced. They realized that children learned more through games and stories in creative way of applying it.
Session 6: Breaking the reading code: Reading and Language Arts
Literacy workstations are areas within the classroom where learners get to choose to work alone or interact with one another enthusiastically. These areas are where learners explore materials to expand their literacy skills.
In this session participants were explored the different activity centers or stations. They were actively acted-out simple children’s stories and learned some ways on how to apply it in creative and effective way.
Session 7: Comprehension and Vocabulary
This session talked about literacy work station. The literacy workstations are activity-oriented, that provide opportunities for rich peer interaction and informal communication among children and/or with teachers. Workstations provide means to implement quality independent practices of what was taught and to determine if our objectives have been achieved. Literacy stations may be used to support distributive practice, differentiation, and engagement for students while teachers work with small, flexible groups of students.
In this station participants learned different activities suited to small group and big group of pupils. They realized that work station would be a big help if this will apply to our daily classroom routine.
Session 8: Literature-based Experiences Using Graphic Organizers: Meaningful Explorations of Story Elements
In this session participants learned different graphic organizer like Bubble Map, Venn diagram, KWL Chart, etc. that can help them make their lesson easy to impart to children. The participants formed their own graphic organizer appropriate to their assigned tasked given to them. After the session participants were happy and enjoyed of what they have learned about the topic.
